Lil Green Baby Safety Alert: Drop-Side Cribs

Crib makers have proposed a ban on drop-side cribs following infant deaths, injuries, and a series of recalls.

That said, the crib that we scored at a church sale for $50 isn't looking like much of a bargain.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says at least 3 children have died due to drop-side cribs in the last 18 months and there have been 5 recalls involving more than 3 million cribs. The brackets that hold up the drop-side can break, causing the side of the crib to fall down and children can get caught in between the rail and the mattress. It's scary. After buying L's crib I googled for product recalls and installed brand new brackets. Now I don't feel like that's enough. Time to go shopping again... for a new crib.
